Who we are
A specialist in bereavement resulting from traumatic death, Nancy’s work also encompasses the myriad of losses that may come as a fundamental part of the human experience. Nancy practices through a Self-Psychology lens which recognizes that we can successfully transcend the tremendous challenges we may face throughout our lifetime; loss of relationship, loss of personal safety and security, loss of employment, loss of self-esteem, loss of voice, and loss of sense of self and identity. The core of Nancy’s work, as she “holds onto hope“, is providing therapeutic support for integrating these transitions in a healthy way and building self-esteem and resilience.
Nancy is a Registered Psychotherapist, a Professional Art Therapist, a Fellow in Thanatology: The Study of Death, Dying and Bereavement. Prior to entering private practice, Nancy was the Program Director at the Seasons Centre for Grieving Children in Barrie, Ontario where she oversaw service provision for more than 350 participants annually. She has been engaged in Education, Advocacy, and Individual and Group Therapy supporting children, teens, adults, and families for 20 years.
Nancy is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Association for Suicide Prevention, and CASP’s People Impacted by Suicide Working group. She is the Chair of the ADEC Credentialing Council and a standing member of the Organizing Committee for the Simcoe County Suicide Awareness Conference.
Complimenting her therapeutic background, Nancy was an award winning Adjunct Professor while at the University of Guelph, and has over 25 years of experience in training and development, education, and group facilitation. A registered member of the Ontario College of Psychotherapists she received her post graduate training in Psychoanalytic Art Therapy from the Toronto Art Therapy Institute, and holds an MBA from The Schulich School of Business.
